Our Music Olympics went from summer events, to winter events! This time the students participated in speed skating! We had cones set up around the room to represent our track and students used paper plates to "skate" relay style around the track. At one end of the room was a stack of cards that had notes and rests on them. As the students skated by, they randomly grabbed a card. When all 50+ of the cards were gone, the event was finished and students had to add up their cards according to how many beats the note/rest had. This turned into points and the team with the most points won the gold! It was so funny to see how slippery my carpet really was with paper plates! I would have swore the students were really on ice!
