Welcome to a new year!

We are already in full-swing in the music room!  Singing, dancing, clapping, stomping... and having a great time!

So... what are we going to be doing this year in music?

SEPTEMBER - DECEMBER
Singing!!  Singing!!  Singing!!
Our focus in the beginning half of the year is all on singing!

• Learning about our voices
• Keeping our voices healthy
• Practicing vocal exercises
• Learning about high/low sounds
• Exploring soft/loud sounds
• Learning about step, repeated and leap notes
• Singing games
• Echoing
• Dancing games that use our voices

And our final project to show you all we've learned? 
OUR HOLIDAY PROGRAM!

JANUARY - MAY
Instruments!!  Instruments!!  Instruments!!
Our focus in the second half of the year is on instruments and playing!

• Orchestras
• Families of Instruments
• Rhythm
• Steadybeat
• Tempo (fast/slow)
• Playing classroom instruments
• Composing songs using instruments
• Body percussion
• Folk dances
• Playing recorders (4th and 5th)
• Playing glockenspiels and xylophones (1st - 5th)

And our final project to show you all we've learned?
For our lucky 4th and 5th graders...
FIELD TRIPS TO SEE THEY SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA!

So many things to look forward to this year!
I can't wait to start enjoying music again with the kids!
