Mrs. Bretz flies south for the summer!

Well... I didn't exactly fly... we drove.

And it wasn't REALLY south... it was technically west to SOUTH DAKOTA! That's right- I went on vacation to South Dakota with my family this summer. Our first stop was to the VERY hot Badlands. Its like a desert of rock that just rises out of the middle of the land. One minute you're in cornfields, and then you're in the desert! It reminded me of sandcastles. It was very pretty with all of the bands of color in the rock. There were signs warning of rattlesnakes, but we didn't see any... probably too hot for them too!

We also got to see the presidents! Not our current president, but some of our first presidents carved in stone. Yup- you guessed right- we went to Mount Rushmore. It was so cool to see them so close. They don't look like it from a distance, but the faces are HUGE!

We also went to Custer National Park where we saw hundreds of buffalo (see photo 4)! They were everywhere... even walking down the middle of the road! We also saw antelope, deer, and rocky mountain sheep.

What a fun trip!

Happy blog hunting!
