Christmas Program FAQ

As I receive questions about the upcoming Christmas program, I will try to add them to this list to help out others who may have the same questions!!

Where is the church?
Resurrection Life Church is located in Grandville. The address is: 5100 Ivanrest SW. Click here for a map to the church.

What time do students need to be at the church?
Students need to report to their assigned classroom AT 6:45. It is very important not to be late so teachers have enough time to line students up in their riser orders, pass out props and make sure everyone who has a special part is accounted for. Please do not send your child to the classroom unsupervised or prior to 6:45. Classroom teachers will be there at 6:45.

Why are we at a different church?
Georgetown Elementary has outgrown all local facilities/churches in Hudsonville. Resurrection Life is large enough to seat all of our families as well as our students so they can watch the Christmas Program too.

How long will the program be?
In the past, we have had to have two programs in one night (a lower and upper el program), but this year we will have one program for the entire school PK-5th. The entire program will be just under 1 hour.

What order are the grades singing?
The grades are singing in order: PreK and Kindergarten sing first, then 1st/2nd grade, then 3rd grade and finally 4th/5th grade.

Can we save seats prior to the program?
No. The only reserved seats will be for the director, videographer, teachers, students and for the winner of the Time and Talent Auction- Christmas Program Package.

Doors will open at 6:30 and seating is first come first served. The church seats 4000 so there is no worries of not getting a seat and every seat is a good seat. There are also huge screens above the stage that will be televising closeups of each group during the entire program.

Is food or drink allowed in the church?
No food or drink is allowed in the church. This is strictly enforced.

Do the students need to wear anything special?
No. Most students love to dress up and will wear special outfits or "church clothes", but there is no requirement.

The exception to this is if your child has a special part. Some parts require special costumes. Many costumes are provided, but some may have to be brought from home. If your child has a special part, they should have brought home a "congratulations" letter that would say if they need to wear or bring anything special.

How do students get special parts?
For most parts, students audition during class time. Sometimes if I have simple parts I randomly choose students or pull names from a hat. I do try to balance students to represent all of the classes. I also keep track of who has had parts in previous Christmas programs so that I don't give one student a big part in consecutive Christmas programs. This is a big factor when I choose parts. Although I would love everyone to have a part, having 550+ students and only a handful of parts each year is very difficult. I discuss this with the students and they realize everyone cannot have a solo part, but that EVERY single person is important to the success of the program. Most songs have special props or motions that involve everyone as well.
