Music IS Math!!

Third graders have been learning about fractions in music!

Math in music??!! 

Yes.  Much of music is based on math!  In ancient Greece, music and math were actually the same subject!  We enjoyed a pizza theme to review notes and rhythms, relate them to fractions, and play instruments together.  We read some fun pizza themed books and created our own "pizza rhythms."  We even played a fun movement game called "Pizza Pizza Daddy-o"!

I showed the class this fun video which reinforces the link between music and math!
