4th grade LINK UP concert huge success!

After months of preparation, the 4th graders attended their LINK UP concert field trip to the Frauenthal Theatre last week Wednesday. It was an exceptional show and the West Shore Symphony performed beautifully. For many of our students, this was the first time in a theatre like this, as well as a symphony experience. The LINK UP concert is very interactive and Scott Speck, the conductor had the students clapping, snapping, patting, and even yelling "Mambo!" (to West Side Story's Overture) to some of the music. All of the music was from American composers and the students have been learning about American music, styles and composers in their curriculum. Its definitely a goose bump moment when "Simple Melody" is played and 1800+ students play their recorders and sing while the orchestra accompanies them. Of course the finale -Sousa's "Stars and Stripes Forever"- was also a huge hit when firework lights and graphics were projected on the walls and confetti canons went off! What a great experience!!
